Messianic Signs and Healing (Isaiah & Matthew) The most striking parallel exists between the prophecy of Isaiah and the actions of Jesus in Matthew. Isaiah prophesies a time when God comes to save, marked by physical miracles: "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; then will the lame leap like a stag." Matthew confirms the fulfillment of this prophecy. When John the Baptist sends disciples to ask if Jesus is the Messiah, Jesus replies not with a simple "yes," but by citing these exact signs: "the blind regain their sight, the lame walk... the deaf hear."
